| | First you will get a knock on the door with a friendly face there to meet you (the therapist). The therapist will be carrying their big bag of equipment, including a massage table, towels, oils, a face cushion and possibly a few other things. If its your first time you will be asked to fill in an assessment form. Please do this while the therapist sets up in a room. If necessary, you may be asked a few questions about your pain, whether you've had a massage before and what you'd like out of the treatment. Also if necessary a few muscle tests or postural assessments may be done before treatment. Generally you would be then asked to strip down to a comfortable level (usually underwear), lie on the table with the towel over you as best you can manage, while the therapist leaves the room. Removing clothes isn't necessary but should be done for an oil massage, where flowing and other techniques can be performed well. The massage starts when you are ready and will go for the time allocated working on areas of concern and/or your full body to encourage deep relaxation. | | |
